A Real Hellfish preview

Alright, here it goes. So pools have been posted, and changed. So based off those changes here goes. Some thoughts before I start. I think we are a bit underseeded overall, but understandably so. We havent been to any tournaments this year, nor have we done well against "bigger" teams. However, with our current seeding we have a pretty ideal schedule (2 games, bye, 2 games) and I think based on the teams in our pool we could end up doing well.

Game 1: Delaware X
-This game could go two ways based on what team Delaware X entails. Either it is their full team that just wants to drink so they may not do as well on sunday or a not full team. If the first scenario is correct we could be in for a game. Delaware has made nationals the 2 of the past 3 years, and they have a program in place. Hopefully we will be able to take advantage of it being the first game and steal a few points. Warming up could be key. If they bring a real X team, then it is going to be much closer.

Game 2: JMU
Based on what I saw at CUFF in the fall, JMU looked pretty good. Given, this was in some of the worst weather for ultimate possible, but still respectable. However, I think we can beat them. Hopefully we will ahve gotten the kinks out by then.

Game 3: Mary Washington
Playing the 5th seed coming off our bye will be clutch. We will be cold (literally and figuratively) especially with it being our first tournament. Hopefully we wont be pushed too hard, but hard enough that we get our shit together again for round 5.

Game 4: Princeton
Princeton did pretty well at CUFF in the fall, which has been the only time Ive seen them play. However, their results from last year were pretty average against teams we matched up well with. I am predicting a dog fight.

Some closing thoughts. Weather is going to be a huge factor this weekend. If its not windy, our huck game is strong enough to keep us competitive in any game. However, if it is windy, it will help us because we can play zone. But it will also be very detrimental to our offense because we havent been playing outside and going from indoor throwing to windy outdoor throwing is very tough. Our throwers are going to have to be very patient, and the cuts are going to have to be very smart for us to work unders.

Some other pool predictions:
Pool A: Ohio State and Lehigh advance
Pool B: Michigan State and Bucknell advance (I want to see just how good Bucknell is with just one senior graduating from last year)
Pool C: Delaware X/JMU and hopefully us, but who knows
Pool D: W&M and Wake advance in the only pool to go to seed

The Sweatshirts are in and they look pimp. Definitely rocking mine to indoor tonight where Sweet Peaches will look to up their +73 in 4 games.
